What I'm Loving

1. Maddie Poppe

I felt like I was back in 2003 watching the revitalized American Idol. But honestly, it was such a great season. There were so many talented people that competed, but my girl Maddie won the crown. She has such a unique and beautiful voice. I cannot stop listening to her music!!
Listen to her single here. Or my favorite performance from a classic movie here .

2. Rain

I'm not exaggerating when I say it has rained every day for three weeks here. But I love it! There is something so calming about the rain. I especially love a good thunderstorm. Sometimes, Thomas and I will just sit on the porch and watch the rain fall. Does this mean we are 75? Maybe.

3. My Church

At the beginning of my senior year of college, Grace Church planted roots in Anderson. And it was just what my soul needed at the time. In fact, when I was looking for a job, I specifically looked in the Greenville and Anderson areas so that I could continue to be involved with Grace. I am so grateful for all the ways this church has impacted my life and my ministry for the Lord. We just finished a series on Philippians and it was so great. The last two sermons really impacted so I thought I would share them. This one is from Philippians 4:6-9 and addresses peace and anxiety. This one is from Philippians 4:10-23 and addresses being content.
Another exciting thing is that our campus is now getting a permanent location. For the last two-ish years, we have been meeting in an elementary school-which we are extremely grateful for. However, we have now purchased a building downtown and are super excited for all the ways the Lord will continue to reach people in the city of Anderson.

What I'm Reading

Borrowed Courage by Tova Sido

This book was written by a woman who was a guest on one of the podcast I listen to. Fair warning: you will be in tears listening to this podcast. And the book was no exception. Sadly, you can only get the book from her website. It wasn't available at my local library, but it may be at yours. Definitely a must read about trusting God and his plans for your life.

Favorite Quote:

“We can choose bitterness and anger and jealousy and resentment-and really, no one would even really blame us or challenge us-because, well, shit happens and life sucks. Or, we can choose joy and love and peace and hope even when shit happens and watch life get better. Joy and love and peace and hope are a choice. They REALLY are a choice. That’s challenging because it means WE are in control-not “life”. Which also means if we don’t choose joy and love and peace and hope, we only have ourselves to blame.”
